The Eid Gah Ride: the biggest turnout on the club calendar
Eid morning, the whole city dressed and out, and a group of cyclists rolling to the Eid Gah before the heat arrives.
Riding on the best morning of the year
Eid morning in Multan has a quality no other day has: the streets are full of people but empty of ordinary traffic, everyone is in their best clothes, and there is a collective good mood that lasts until roughly lunchtime. Cycling through it is a pleasure that is difficult to explain to anyone who has only ridden on a normal weekday.
The Eid Gah ride is the club's largest gathering of the year. Riders who are home visiting family turn up, old members reappear, and first-timers come because their cousin told them to. It is less a training ride than a moving reunion.
How it runs
Roll-out is early, before prayers, at a pace that keeps everyone together — which on this ride means very slow. The point is the group, the greetings and the photographs, not the average speed. Riders in shalwar kameez are common, so the route avoids anything technical, and the group holds together tightly through the busier stretches.
Afterwards, the traditional part: sweets, chai and standing around bikes for an hour longer than anyone planned.
If it's your first ride with the club
This is the easiest possible introduction. No fitness requirement, no kit requirement, nobody will be racing you, and you will have talked to twenty people before the ride ends. Bring a bike that works, water, and expect the whole thing to take longer than the distance suggests.
Timing changes every year with the Islamic calendar, so the date goes out in the WhatsApp group and on Instagram a few days ahead.
